Mike Summers - November 2012:
Decided to take a quick trip to one of our new cities. The Minot Airport (Website: http://www.whyflyminot.com/ ) is located two miles north of Minot. There are three rental car agencies at the airport: Avis, Hertz, and Alamo/National. There is a city bus service (Website: http://www.minotnd.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=category&layout=blog&id=26&Itemid=32 ) that has a hard-to-follow schedule. I didn't see any bus stop at the terminal. As for things to do, since I like to run, I found the trail system to be a great place to put some miles under my feet (Trails Website and Map: http://minotparks.com/minottrails.html ). Here's the Visit Minot Website: http://visitminot.org/play/ where you can check out the Zoo, the Railroad Museum , or the Dakota Territory Air Museum. You can also drive an hour and a half north to Dunseith, ND and visit the International Peace Garden (Website: http://www.peacegarden.com/ ) on the US - Canadian border. A passport is not required, but I had mine. It's a nice place to walk/hike. Four miles west of Monot is the Four Bears Casino. They have $3.00 Blackjack along with Slots, TexasHoldem, Roulette, and Craps (Website: http://www.4bearscasino.com/ ). As for food, I tried the Barley Pop Bar (No Website) at 437 N. Broadway. Sandwiches and drinks -- nothing that great, nothing that bad. As for sleep, I got a Comfort Inn on Hotwire at a decent rate.
Enjoy!
